Reflection on our documentary film

When I first received the topic that I would be doing, I felt that it would be a very difficult and serious topic. However, I was eager to learn more about employment because I knew this topic will affect and assist my future. I was assigned to work with two other group members. I was excited to work on this project with them. The TIG group told us they were going to present our documentary film in the film festival. Timing was one of the big issues that our group members have been concerned about. We were doubtful that our documentary film could not be finished on time since employment is a very hard topic.

As time went by, our documentary film was processing very slowly. I was unsatisfied with one of my group member because, he never did his share of work. The first time, we received the camcorder, we felt very excited. The filming was very irritating because we had to film over and over again. My group members spoke too softly which caused us very difficult to record their voice. Near term two, we had another group member joined our team. After filming, we had to import it into our laptops and edit the film. Sometimes, editing the film was quite frustrating because when you delete a clip, you have to shift the rest of the film over. However, I enjoyed editing the film the most out of everything we have done. My computer knowledge had improved as I have learned how to use the programs called Photoshop and Flash. Flash was quite confusing, but the program was impressive. At first, it was difficult for us to find music because the CDs that we had wasn’t really music, it was sound effects. It became easier to find music, when our computer teacher recommended some websites with music to us.

When the film festival was over, we felt amazed because we never thought we would be able to finish it. I also felt relieved because we’ve been working on this project for the whole year, and we finally don’t have to worry about this project anymore. After awhile, I started missing TIG, because we’ve worked on it for so long, and it became part of my life. I’m happy that we got chosen to be the pilot class, to get an opportunity to create this film and everything else. Although working on TIG was stressful, it made grade 8 very fun. It made me learn how to work with people that I am not close to, and how to use different computer programs. I think everyone at the film festival got inspired, informed and involved. This project was certainly the most different and biggest project I have ever done. I will never forget this.
